Andrew has been a Human Resources professional for over twenty-five years in a wide range of industries including High Tech, Biotech, Insurance Services and the Not For Profit sector.
He began his career in the UK at The Boots Company, a consumer and prescription healthcare drug developer and manufacturer, where he originally trained as a Research Chemist, before being offered roles in Finance and then HR as the Company’s Information Systems Manager.
Subsequently, Andrew moved to Guardian Insurance as HR Manager to the General Insurance business where he specialized in Compensation and HR Systems as well as providing HR Generalist support to the General Insurance business.
In 1999 Andrew joined Pfizer, initially in the UK, and in 2001 he was offered the role of Site HR Manager at Pfizer’s newly acquired California business, supporting a wide range of client groups as well as acting as site representative to a variety of the company’s global project teams.
In 2004, Andrew joined ICANN as their Head of HR, a first in post role, where he helped to establish the HR function for the organization.
More recently Andrew has taken on roles as Director of HR for Kratos (formerly WFI), a San Diego based High Tech and consulting services Defense Contractor, and an interim role as Head of HR for the Birmingham YMCA.
Andrew’s areas of expertise include hiring employees from entry level to executive, employee relations, policy development, and compensation and performance management. He has been involved in a number of business restructure activities, helping organizations to redefine their HR and business processes and supporting leadership, line managers and employees through significant changes, re-skilling and redeployment activities.
Andrew is a graduate in Applied Chemistry from Nottingham Business School and holds a MBA with an IT specialty, also from Nottingham. He has also completed the program in HR Leadership at the University of California (San Diego) and is certificated as a Senior HR Professional.
Outside of work Andrew enjoys traveling, writing and is a keen home cook. He is also an avid music enthusiast of the ‘golden era’ of popular song and dance, and has presented programs of this music on BBC regional radio and to live audiences.
